Saturday, November 2, 2019, 1 – 2pm

“Brookgreen Gardens, home to the largest collection of American figurative sculpture in the country, will be hosting the artist behind The Lost Bird Project, Todd McGrain, for a lecture on his works on November 2 at 1:00pm. November 2nd will also be the last day to see Carolina Parakeet, a six-foot tall bronze sculpture from Lost Bird Project in Brookgreen’s Arboretum

The Lost Bird Project is an ode to gone but never forgotten extinct species of birds. The Great Auk, Labrador Duck, Passenger Pigeon, Carolina Parakeet and Heath Hen were birds that once filled unique riches of the North American Landscape from the shores of Labrador and New York to the Midwestern plains. The project features distinctive and magnificent bronze sculptures of each bird that are permanently placed where the species were last seen in the wild.

The lecture will take place in the Lowcountry Center Auditorium and a reception will follow”
