The Toasters / The Scotch Bonnets $10 ADV / $12 DOS
Mon Oct 7th 9:00pm – 12:00am

The Scotch Bonnets are out on the road this fall playing tour dates throughout the south and east of the USA supporting Ska legends, The Toasters.  Part of their 75 gig calendar in support of their release, Come on Over (Jump Up Records).

Come On Over features nine new songs about loss, longing, and endurance from the tough yet vulnerable feminine perspective of leader Kristin Forbes who goes by the nom de guere, Lady Hachet.  Music ranges from the Elvis Costello-esque, ‘Another Saturday Night’ to super catchy ska stompers like ‘Hair Did’ and a ferociously funky reggae version of Lorde’s “Royals.” Cameos come from Angelo Moore and The Slackers’ saxophonist, David Hillyard who helped produce the album.

Says Hillyard, “Hatchet is the real deal. She is a great singer, somewhere between Chrissy Hynde and Phyllis Dillon. She plays Guitar, Keys, and Bass and writes her own tunes. She has a commanding stage presence.  Kristin and The Bonnets are ready, they have been paying their dues for years, and now is their time to shine.”

Based out of Baltimore, The Scotch Bonnets have been keeping the party jumping all night since their debut in 2009. The Bonnets blend classic Jamaican grooves with a fresh approach to American singer-songwriting. They have several releases including, Live Ya Life (2012), Quest (2014), and The District (2017).  They have collaborated with Punk legend HR of Bad Brains and been the backing band for The Specials guitarist, Roddy Radiation.
