Local 616, 616 Meeting St, Charleston, South Carolina
Saturday, September 7, 2019, 4 – 9pm

“Come out to Local 616 on September 7th to help support the American Civil Liberties Union!

We’ve got some amazing local artists carving up a storm for you! We will be up on stage at Local 616 with our press ready to roll out some prints.

HOW IT WORKS
We’ll have a proof of each artist’s work displayed for you to choose from and after you’ve picked the print (or prints!)  you would like in return for your donation we will ink up the block, crank it through, and voilá — a hot-off-the-press print just for you.

It will need a few moments to dry so grab a bite at the Fast & French hot dog pop up and a drink from the bar and meet some other art loving supporters of our basic human rights!

PARTICIPATING ARTISTS:
Taylor Faulkner
Barbara Duval
Camela Guevara
Amber Vasquez
Anna Newell

WHY WE CHOSE THE ACLU
The mission of the ACLU is “to defend and preserve the individual rights and liberties guaranteed to every person in this country by the Constitution and laws of the United States.”
From educating Americans on their rights as citizens to actively filing legal cases to overturn unconstitutional policies, the ACLU is doing important work to raise awareness and defend all those whose rights are threatened. The organization has grown since its founding in 1920 in to a nationwide organization with 50 state affiliates. While the ACLU is a large organization they are still limited with the number of cases they can take on. They need our support to continue to grow; the ACLU appears before the Supreme Court more than any other organization except the Department of Justice, and they receive no government funding.
These are wild times we’re living in, each day it seems as though we move backward instead of forward. Through their advocacy, the ACLU encourages us to push forward. They continuously remind us that it is imperative to support those who support others.”
