“Opening Reception: Friday 7, 2020 from 5-8pm

Join Miller Gallery on February 7, 2020 from 5-8pm for the opening of Play Day – Paint, Sew Sleep. Teresa Roche’s latest body of work features 17 new mixed media pieces that portray her voyage of embracing and trusting her inner voice while allowing the play with materials to become central to her practice.

Teresa states, “On the floor I am more at ease. I draw, I spray, I paint, I sew. The playful innocence of a child discovering something for the very first time is the common theme in this new body of work. Moving from the floor to the wall making connections between basic marks and brushwork continues for hours and days as I recall memories and hold close my child-like inner spirit. I want to express my feelings, not illustrate them. This new body of work represents a merging and congealing of tried and true techniques with the integration of new materials and techniques. Threads have been added.

Play Day – Paint, Sew, Sleep is a voyage of embracing and trusting my inner voice and allowing the play with materials to become central to my practice. Isolated distorted motifs appear over and over again in my work and become a part of the intuitive process or are cut away to be assembled in to later works. I invite you to view closely, to become acquainted with images that you will at once recognize as you allow yourself to see them.”

All are welcome! Exhibit will be on view through February 29, 2020. For more info, please reach out to or call 843-764-9281.”
