Meyer Vogl Gallery, 122 Meeting Street, Charleston, SC
Friday, May 3, 2019, 5 – 8pm

“Think of the work in Meyer Vogl Gallery’s upcoming group exhibition Inside Voices as the anti-landscape. Though oftentimes quiet and serene, the inside of a place can also be buzzing with energy, with mixed patterns strewn across the room, sun bursting in through open windows, and – of course – people congregating, laughing, crying, and living their lives.

The artists in this group show are galvanized by “insideness.” Their work features interiors, still lifes, and other inside things, be it a pair of lemons on a kitchen counter or an abstract interpretation of the fabrics and collectibles that adorn a home.

“Inside objects and spaces are intimate by nature,” says Meyer. “For this show, I selected personal places I love and chose spaces where light and love abound.”

The show includes new work by Meyer as well as painters Nancy Hoerter and Aimee Erickson. The gallery is also excited to welcome Carlos San Millán and Kathleen Jones. San Millan’s moody interiors contrast with his use of ethereal light to capture the magic of interiors. Jones’ bold colors play with pops of pattern in her abstract work.

The exhibition will take place from May 3 to 31. An opening reception will be held at Meyer Vogl Gallery on Friday, March 3, from 5 – 8pm, with artists in attendance.
