Workshop, 1503 King Street, Charleston, SC
Saturday, November 2, 2019, 1 – 4pm

“CompostNow, The Green Heart Project & Workshop are teaming up to fight scary Halloween food waste!

Most of the 1.3 billion pounds of pumpkins produced in the U.S. end up in the landfill. Those nutrients are too precious to waste which is why we’re hosting our 2nd annual community event “Smash Don’t Trash” on Saturday November 2, 2019 from 1-4pm.

Community members are encouraged to bring their old pumpkins to be composted rather than landfilled! The event will host pumpkin smashing stations, informational booths, and delicious food and beverages available for purchase. All compost created from “Smash Don’t Trash” will be shared with The Green Heart Project.

All are welcome! Join us for a smashing good time!

Nitty Gritty Details: Please limit 1 pumpkin per person. We cannot accept any pumpkins with candles, aluminum foil, or other non-compostable decorations inside them. We cannot accept any painted or be-dazzled pumpkins (unless you remove it first!). Parents are required to stay with their children while they participate.
